Urban Outfitters’ Terrain

3 Mar

Not necessarily one for cutting edge philosophies, the Philadelphia Flower Show has nevertheless generated quite the buzz this year. Seems our local fashion maverick, Urban Outfitters, has entered into the home and garden retail foray… How interesting.

Premiering at the show on Sunday, Terrain’s authentically-styled Southern shanty garnered a multitude of awards and recognition. And oh my what a site to see. Amidst otherwise tacky jazz-themed competitors, Terrain stands out with an honest approach that’s almost an unbrand within a world of buzzwords and identities. They might just be onto something…

Then again, that’s certainly unlikely given a monolithic parent corp known only as “URBN,” now isn’t it? Maybe next time.

From the Terrain brochure:
“The traditional atmosphere, the horticultural and land design expertise, and the wide range of plants in the region are enhanced by a new sense of style from Terrain – the people who brought you the design innovation of the Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People stores… Drawing on the work of contemporary designers and traditional style from around the world, Terrain at Styer’s integrates home and garden into a personal living space enhanced by a connection to nature, and respect for our environment and our community.”

Alfred M. Campbell Award (Most Unique Set of Plants)
Conservation Award
People’s Choice Award
